Quikrete proposal Unacceptable
I have lived in Silverton for eight years now and have worked with the council and city on many different issues. I am absolutely disgusted with the mayor, planning commission, council, city manager and chamber of commerce dealing with Quikrete. This shouldn't even be a DISCUSSION!!! To even remotely think about bringing in Quikrete to Silverton is absolutely absurd! This "group" has gone too far this time. I will make it my mission come this election to spread the word that we need "NEW, FRESH, INNOVATIVE, SMART, ENVIRONEMENTAL CONCIOUS PEOPLE" on the council, planning commision, chamber and city government. The mayor appoints people to the planning commission. If we can get a new mayor, then we have the power to "fire" the planning commission's current group and replace them with people who will take our town seriously. We have too much at stake in our town to allow Quikrete to plant their roots here. It's just unacceptable!!
So long Silverton?
We moved to Silverton with our 2 children only six months ago. It seemed a perfect place to raise a family, live a healthy lifestyle, and become active members of a thriving community. This Quikrete business has shocked us. How could this possibly happen to such a lovely town... a town that we were excited to call our new home?
If this factory goes in we will leave Silverton for greener, cleaner pastures.
This is my plea to the "Deciders":
Please do not do this! The citizens of this town, especially the children, have a right to breathe clean air! No amount of tax revenue or low-paying jobs should trump that right.
