Recall Planning Commissioners--they are supposed to represent us!

I'm frustrated! I believe we unhappy citizens should put together a petition to recall all the planning commissioners. The city website listed, until last week, all but one of the commissioners' terms ending Jan 2009. Now only the two most recent planning commissioners (the no votes on Quikrete) are ending. Many of our planning commissioners have served multiple 4 year terms. The chairman has spent 19 years representing you! RECALL them all! Make the selection process transparent! Create term limits! What do you think? Do you want to make this an open and fairly selected planning commission, AS IS REQUIRED BY OREGON STATE LAW? (see Oregon Planning Goals, Goal #1.)

I absolutely agree 100%. I would like to see term limits, and I would like to see the positions be voted in, not selected by the Mayor. I am hoping we get a new Mayor and Planning Commission, as I feel both have let this city down in a HUGE way. I'd also like to see 100% of the positions filled by persons that live in Silverton, having people from Salem tell us Quikrete is the right fit for Silverton, just isn't right!
