MEETING FOR ALL OPPOSED TO QUIKRETE - FRIDAY NOV 7th @ 6:30pm
THERE IS A MEETING OPEN TO ALL CITIZENS OPPOSED TO QUIKRETE. HERE WE WILL DISCUSS THE RECENT TURN OF EVENTS REGARDING QUIKRETE AND THE DIRTY POLITICS THAT OCCURED MONDAY NIGHT AT THE COUNCIL MEETING. WE WILL ALSO DISCUSS GOING TO LUBA, SHARE IDEAS, ORGANIZE AND MOBILIZE.

Question About Food Contamination From Quikrete
I had never thought about this before last night, but isn't the company near the entrance of Eska Way a food processing company? Is there any chance of their products getting contaminated from the PM released by Quikrete "IF" Quikrete goes in at the proposed site, so close to them? I mean, I doubt the food is just stored in the open, but I would think there would be times that it would be exposed, and I don't think the PM would simply "cook" away? I don't know for sure, but I would imagine ingesting this stuff would be highly dangerous, especially now that we are talking 24/7 business.
That was my thought when I started this posting, and as I was typing I began to wonder about all the surrounding farms? Will this PM effect the safety of the berries and other crops of our local farmers? Would it just "wash" off berries and such, and if so how safe would that be for the person washing them? If this would effect the produce from the many local farmers...that would be devastating for them and their families, and I believe would effect this town and community as whole in a very negative way.
Look back at the post from the person that works 1/4 mile away from the Tacoma facility, he says there is a fine coating over everything...can you imagine that being on food? YIKES!!
I don't know...just popped in my mind last night and I figured I would put it out here for consideration.
Down with Quikrete In Silverton
I just wanted to tell everyone that came to our No Quikrete meeting tonight, thanks for coming and what a turnout. It was nice to see so many people that don't live in the surrounding area show their support. It was awesome we had so much legal help. Lets keep up the fight and show Hector just how powerful the city can be when you try and harm it.
Tonights Meeting
Wow, what a great meeting and great turn out! Thank you Mike and Tiffany for hosting it. It was great getting a chance talk to persons that better know the laws and how things work, and I found it both enlightening and encouraging! I am pumped and ready for the continued battle more than ever now!! Can we do this?? YES we can!! : )
